Mr. Wheatley's Background
My name is Aaron Wheatley and I'm incredibly excited to be working with your 4th grader this year! I'm originally from Detroit, Michigan and I've also lived in Florida, Arizona, and the beautiful Bay Area. I did my undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University and completed a post-graduate teacher credential program at Florida Southern College. I look forward to continuing my professional development this year.

Teaching Career
I've been working in education since the winter of 2004 (see picture) and this will be my 11th year in the classroom. I spent the first 4 years of my career in a low socio-economic area in Orlando, Florida working with 20 kindergarteners. After gaining some experience, I set my sights on moving out west. The first stepping stone was acquiring an elementary position in Phoenix, Arizona in a public school setting. After a year there, I heard about Yew Chung International and was inspired by their vision and mission of teaching the whole child. I've spent the last 6 years teaching kindergarten here and feel like I've blossomed into a much-improved educator. For me, the logical next step was to switch grades and continue to grow as a professional. I am thrilled to embark upon this new chapter here in Mountain View!

Coaching
One of my greatest passions is athletics and I truly enjoy working on sports with students of all ages. In the past, I've given baseball lessons, been a middle school basketball coach, and look forward to more opportunities to work in youth athletics each year. Physical fitness is a crucial component of your child's education and I'm dedicated to creating opportunities for their athleticism to flourish. I will be continuing to implement a recess club with organized football, soccer, and baseball leagues every day. Many character traits are learned out on the playing field such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment. I hope to see your child out there!
